Protecting and Extending Is Main Purpose of Google Motorola Deal

After the Google Motorola Conference Call on August 15, 2011 the over all purpose of the deal is about "Protecting and Extending Android" Is the Main Purpose of Google Motorola Deal.
All the participant came back to the same answer over and over. Android and Motorola are a perfect fit with Google. Being run as separate companies they can protect and build on each other.
Though there are patient and legal issues the focus is on running each business as they are being run now and moving each forward.
When Google acquires Motorola they are also acquiring the patients Motorola has numbering about 17K. These technology patients can and will strengthen Android against threats from other mobile companies.
It was revealed that 560k Android Devices are being activated everyday. This number has grown from 135.000k activations 6 months previous.
If one stands back a little and takes what was said with a grain of salt another theme was playing during the conference call. Google knows Motorola was it the Open Handset Alliance from the start. Motorola has had dips and also almost failed more than once after peaks. Like WW2 Radios and the the 1990s Razar flip Phone the company fell hard. With the relationship about to happen Motorola will be protected from these dips and unforeseen threats.

Google Buying Motorola Mobility

Google is buying Motorola.

Google is holding a investor web conference at 8:30 AM EST or 5:30 AM PT. All the bosses will be on the call.

Larry Page, CEO of Google, said, “Motorola Mobility’s total commitment to Android has created a natural fit for our two companies. Together, we will create amazing user experiences that supercharge the entire Android ecosystem for the benefit of consumers, partners and developers. I look forward to welcoming Motorola to our family of Googlers.”

Sanjay Jha, CEO of Motorola Mobility, said, “This transaction offers significant value for Motorola Mobility’s stockholders and provides compelling new opportunities for our employees, customers, and partners around the world. We have shared a productive partnership with Google to advance the Android platform, and now through this combination we will be able to do even more to innovate and deliver outstanding mobility solutions across our mobile devices and home businesses.”

Andy Rubin, Senior Vice President of Mobile at Google, said, “We expect that this combination will enable us to break new ground for the Android ecosystem. However, our vision for Android is unchanged and Google remains firmly committed to Android as an open platform and a vibrant open source community. We will continue to work with all of our valued Android partners to develop and distribute innovative Android-powered devices.”

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of regulatory approvals in the US, the European Union and other jurisdictions, and the approval of Motorola Mobility’s stockholders. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2011 or early 2012.

Google will acquire Motorola Mobility for $40.00 per share in cash, or a total of about $12.5 billion, a premium of 63% to the closing price of Motorola Mobility shares on Friday, August 12, 2011. The transaction was unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both companies.

Android Still Selling Better Than The Apple iPhone According To Nielsen

Every quarter consumer targeting companies create reports for internal purposes. Nielsen is one company that has been collection user information for decades, mostly for television networks.

Over the last few years the company has been watching consumer electronics sales. In even more recent history Nielsen has been watching and collecting mobile stats.

Nielsen has released statistics for Mobile OS usage and purchase data. Again it clearly shows Android Phones being purchased by half of those looking for a new phone.

None of these statistics surprises us. Android is clearly a better OS and provides a better user experience. Just that fact that Android will run Flash makes it better. Put Flash and all the other features together and Android Phones VS iPhone will put Android on top every time.

Google Android Growth Strengthens With 33 Percent Of Market Share

Over the last several months the Android OS has been growing stronger with acceptance. It wasn't 2 years ago when most mobile phone users didn't even know of Android. Google Android has grown another %7 over the last 3 months.

The Mobile Operating System has taken hold and growing everyday. Growth hasn't slowed since the first Droid Phone launched. More and more users are updating to smartphones. The data is showing they are choosing Google Phones.

The latest data is showing that Androids growth continues with 7.0 percentage points since November 2010. This put Google Android at %33 of the market share. Blackberry dropped by 4.6 percent over the same time period landing at 28.9 percent of the market.

ComScore has reported these key trends in the U.S. mobile phone industry during the three month average period ending February 2011.

The top 3 OEM Manufacturers are Samsung, LG and Motorola with RIM and Apple after that. Apple had the strongest gain during the period.

69.5 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones during the three months ending in February 2011, up 13 percent from the preceding three-month period. Google Android grew 7.0 percentage points since November, strengthening its #1 position with 33.0 percent market share. RIM ranked second with 28.9 percent market share, followed by Apple with 25.2 percent. Microsoft (7.7 percent) and Palm (2.8 percent) rounded out the top five.

Samsung Galaxy S 2 LTE Phone Shows Up At MWC

For those lucky to be at Mobile World Congress in Spain the excitment has already begun. News of HDMI and LTE Android Phones has started streaming out. By far the biggest news so far from Samsung is the Galaxy S II.
Engadget has released some inside info from MWC along with a image.
"some internal Samsung documents and can bring you the official names and specs of the successors to the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab. Firstly, the Galaxy S II will tout a 4.3-inch, 800 x 480 Super AMOLED Plus display, a 1GHz dual-core Orion / Exynos processor, NFC, Bluetooth 3.0, and 24Mbps HSPA+ connectivity. All those stats were leaked earlier this morning, along with the image above, and we've once again seen the 8.49mm thickness for this device, although we now believe it is the measurement at its thinnest point -- it's likely that the S II will fatten up to 9.9mm, presumably to accommodate the camera module, one of the last remaining parts of smartphone construction that require extra girth (NFC being another)."

Tegra 2 Processor Arriving With LG Optimus 2X Phone

Tegra 2 processor, making for faster, smoother Web browsing and a better multitasking experience. The Optimus 2X will be released with Android 2.2; it will be upgradable to Android 2.3 later. LG will offer the Optimus 2X in South Korea next month. The device will then be shipped to Europe and to other countries in Asia. It's not known when the device will be available in the United States.
The Optimus 2X will offer 1080p high-definition video recording and playback with HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) mirroring, LG said.

This will let users run the videos on external displays at full HD quality. It will also allow a console-like gaming experience on external DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) compatible digital device, such as HDTV's.

The phone includes an accelerometer and gyro sensor. It also has a micro-USB port. The phone has a 1500mAH battery, LG said. It has a 1.3MP front-facing camera and an 8MP rear-facing camera.

Other Optimus 2X features include a 4-inch WVGA screen, and 8GB of memory expandable to up to 32GB using a microSD card.
Optimus 2X's core contains uses a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. This is supposedly the world's first mobile dual-core CPU.

The Tegra 2 includes an ultra-low power GeForce graphics processing unit (GPU). This lets it offer up to two times faster Web browsing and up to five times faster gaming. The GPU also includes what's claimed to be the world's first mobile 1080p HD video processor.

Samsung Nexus S Officially New Google Phone N2

Yet another big announcement from the world of Android. The Samsung Nexus S is here. We assume since it was launched by the Google Mobile Blog it must be the new Google Phone, N2.
Samsung is kicking it up a notch launching this smartphone with Gingerbread Preloaded. Look for lighter faster user interface that will draw in more decipils of Google Android.
After December 16, Nexus S will be sold unlocked and carrier-independent initially through Best Buy stores in the U.S. and after December 20 at Carphone Warehouse stores in the UK.
