According to Bloomberg stocks where up %8 to $31.00 10:30AM est at Adobe. Now that the cross compatibility issue seems to be getting resolved.

No doubt this change in attitude is partly due to developers leaving the Apple iPhone App field and moving into Linux and Android. All one needs to do is check out some developers forums like XDA. Not all but most developer forums are ramped with people who got taken out to the trash with Adobe back in April 2010. Needless to say their where lots of pissed off developers.

It was just a couple months previous in April 2010 that Steve Jobs publicly said Adobe can take a hike. His comments where brutal and very public. Check it out on this iPhone Blog we found. Some are thinking Steve has began loosing his mind. He must have found it.

Adobe software sales is what benefits in this situation. Developers can now use CS5 to build apps and website with relative easy. Keep in mind that app builders mainly use Eclipse and the App Inventor. This is just another tool, but a needed one. Android App Inventor invites began going out in August 2010. We where one of the lucky ones who received one.

We are also hearing that Verizon Wireless Droid X and some other devices will begin shipping with Flash built in. Now users need to get the Flash Solution in the Android Market. Reports of some earlier Droid Phones slowing down after the install which most likely is a hardware issue.

There once was a time when big American companies would share patented technology through licensing. Over the last decade these relationships have all but disappeared. The tack has come about and more towards a cold wind of lawyers and lawsuits. It would certainly be nice if Apple stays on the sharing course and play nice with others.

Can we trust Apple to maintain this new openness? We need to look at the history of the company. Over the years Apple has become inclusive and locked down. They charge a fee for just about everything. They have also put a collar around the necks of musicians with iTunes. Then there's DMR and being able to move music around that you already purchased. The list go's on and on how Apple takes its ball and go's home. So at the very least we need to watch very carefully the moves Apple makes over the next few weeks and months. If they turn and pull the plug again a hail storm will crush many soles.

Wow what a day with all the breaking news from Google I/O Developers conference. Android users where amazed by the 2.2 updated Android OS AKA Froyo. Some of the things demonstrated at I/O where Amazing. Like Update All Apps Function, Maps functions, The New Android App Market and User Control Panel. Find apps in your user control panel then have the Internet send that app to your phones. That's right Over the Air App downloads. No more searching the App Market on your Droid Phone.
Whats more on top of all that is the integration of Froyo into GoogleTV. User will be able to use their phones as remote controls. All with using the Internet and Android Applications.

Today at Google I/O we announced that Android 2.2 is right around the corner. This is our seventh platform release since we launched Android 1.0 in September 2008. We wanted to highlight five areas in particular:

Performance & speed: The new Dalvik JIT compiler in Android 2.2 delivers between a 2-5X performance improvement in CPU-bound code vs. Android 2.1 according to various benchmarks.

New enterprise capabilities: We’ve added Exchange capabilities such as account auto-discovery and calendar sync. Device policy management APIs allow developers to write applications that can control security features of the device such as the remote wipe, minimum password, lockscreen timeout etc.

Faster, more powerful browser: We have brought the V8 JavaScript engine to the Android browser as part of 2.2. This has resulted in a 2-3X improvement in JavaScript performance vs. 2.1.

Rich set of new APIs and services: New data backup APIs enable apps to participate in data backup and restore, allowing an application's last data to be restored when installed on a new or a reset device. Apps can utilize Android Cloud to Device Messaging to enable mobile alert, send to phone, and two-way push sync functionality. Developers can now declare whether their app should be installed on internal memory or an SD card. They can also let the system automatically determine the install location. On the native side, a new API now gives access to Skia bitmaps.

Additions to Android Market: Android Market provides Android Application Error Reports, a new bug reporting feature, giving developers access to crash and freeze reports from users. Developers will be able to access these reports via their account on the Android Market publisher website.

Tools update

We are releasing new version of the Android SDK Tools, Revision 6, Eclipse plug-in ADT 0.9.7 and Android NDK, Revision 4.

These new versions include support for library projects that will help you share code and resources across several Android projects.

Android NDK, Revision 4

Workflow improvements The new NDK brings a host of workflow improvement, from compilation, to debugging. Starting with 2.2, the NDK enables debugging native code on production devices.

ARMv7 instruction set support This release enables the generation of machine code for the ARMv7-A instruction set. Benefits include higher performance, as well as full use of the hardware FPU for devices that support it.

ARM Advanced SIMD (a.k.a. NEON) instruction support The NEON instruction set extension can be used to perform scalar computations on integers and floating points. However, it is an optional CPU feature and will not be supported by all Android ARMv7-A based devices. The NDK includes a tiny library named "cpufeatures" that can be used by native code to test at runtime the features supported by the device's target CPU.
